Kellie stepped out of the shower. I examined her naked body, smiled, and was about to pay her compliment when she cut me off.
"You want some of this, don't you?" she said as she slid her hands along the sides of her torso and wiggled her hips. "But you're not getting any today because it's my birthday, not yours."
I'm wasn't disappointed, Father's Day is almost here, we leave for a two month vacation in France in less than three weeks, and I have a birthday on the twenty-first. June looks like a good month for me anyway.
Kellie is 50 years-old today, and she still looks better many women half her age. She should be flattered that I still find her sexy. That desire can't last forever, can it?
When I was younger, in my twenties, there probably wasn't a woman over 30 who I thought was hot. But as I got older, mature women got sexier. Not that younger women lost their physical appeal, I even dated a few between marriages, but my intellectual connection with them vanished. And even though I know better now, I'm still trapped by the mindset I had when I was twenty: I can't imagine ever being physically attracted to an 80 year-old.
I'm not the only one who feels this way; the thought of octogenarian sex gives Kellie the heebie-jeebies too. Her situation may be worse than mine because she started from a different reference point. Prior to meeting me, Kellie only dated younger men – much younger men. So even though I'm only four years senior to her, she thought I was an old man the day we met. In a few more years she won't be able to sustain the fantasy that I'm Johnny Depp.
Fortunately, evolution has been kind. We are programmed to see beauty in those we love, and when love is no longer sufficient to keep the passion alive, there's always Librido and Viagra.

Yeah now that Im 50 octegenarian sex is kinda daunting (nauseating?) but as an octegenarian I suspect I won't be feeling that way.
ReplyDeletehappy birthday kellie!! and if you're lucky by the time you guys are 80, the eyesight will have gone. and you can start drinking your sherry with breakfast.
ReplyDeleteI love Kellie.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Kellie...I hope you guys did something fun to celebrate! God how did we get to 50 already! I remember thinking...50 is so OLD...I don't feel OLD!?!?!
ReplyDeleteNice post, Joe, and Happy Birthday to your beautiful wife!
ReplyDeleteI'm right where Kelly is. Well, about 40 days behind. Thankfully my husband feels the same way you do about me, body and older women in general. I'll be the first to admit this getting older and still feeling sexy (or should I say feeling attractive) is something I've struggled with. But I didn't think it would be this fun at 50 -- who knows they same might be said of 80? Happy belated birthday to Kelly. Hope she and I are both still around to celebrate 80 in 2043. Eek.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to Kellie. It's amazing how things change over time, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Kellie. Yes, mature women are sexier. It just takes the right man to notice.
ReplyDeleteI wish you both many years of sexual fulfillment.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to Kellie! Hope you guys have an amazing time on your vacation.
ReplyDeleteThe way your affection for your wife comes through in your writing is so touching. Happy June to you both!
ReplyDeleteThe older I get, the better older men look to me. When I was sixteen, thirty year olds seemed gross. Now, forty year olds look pretty good to me...you're right, it must be in the programming.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to Kellie. I hope you both celebrate.
ReplyDeleteAs always, an endearing and fun story. Love the hip wiggling.
ReplyDeleteI remember taking a gerontology class back when I was 20 and thinking how disgusting that thought was. What we learned though - and that has always stuck with me - is that "If you use it, you don't lose it!" I find that it's a little sad that that was my only take-away from that class, but it gives my husband, who's 10 years older, great hope!
ReplyDeleteYou are both adorable. Smiling
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Kellie! She beat me to 50 only by a few months. You guys are so cute.
